Free Bible Study Resources for the Beginner

You want to start reading and studying the Word of God, but where do you start? HOW do you study?

First, gather your resources!

I’m not a biblical scholar, I didn’t go to Bible college or attend seminary, but I do love the Word of God and want to increase not only my knowledge, but my relationship with Christ.

I can do that by reading His Word.

I’ve listed my favorite free study resources. When I complete another blog with the resources I use, I’ll link it here.

First, I want to begin with how to access the Bible for free. While I do not know of a free physical Bible (your church may have a program), I know of some apps that you can read the Bible on, my favorite being the Blue Letter Bible app. This app allows you to compare different translations, highlight and create themes, and allows you to search people, places and themes in the app.

Second, is the YouVersion Bible app. Both apps allow you to read in different translations but what I love about the Bible app is it will read the Bible to you. Perfect if you can’t pronounce those Old Testament names like me!

Now that you have access to read the Bible, let’s go over some of my favorite free resources that have helped me along the way.

The Enduring Word is a website and app that has a free commentary. It’s been a good resource for me when I didn’t have my current commentary or study Bible.

The Logos Bible app is my favorite free resource. Although you purchase bibles, commentaries, and other resources, they are several free ones that come with the app. My favorite being the Faithlife study Bible that came with the app.

There’s also our community! I do Bible studies on TikTok, instagram, and Facebook, as well post about any other resources. I also send out a monthly reading plan, include any resources that have been helping me, and other favorite things. I hope this has helped you dig into the word!
